Camelbak HydroBak Review:

The Camelbak Hydrobak hydration pack is perfect for runners, short-day hikers, cyclists, walkers and anyone who wants to stay hydrated. It should be noted that if you want to carry items such as food, extra clothing etc, then this type of hydration pack is not for you.

It’s sole use is to keep you hydrated…just you and water…that’s it!

It sits snugly on your back and is comfortable and lightweight

The mouth grip, or bite valve, is considered one of the best and perfectly designed among all hydration packs, but again, it’s a Camelbak and you get what you pay for. Some generic valves are poor to say the least. Not this one!

The large opening to the reservoir for filling is big enough for adding ice to keep the water cool for as long as possible.

The Camelbak Hydrobak 50 oz Hydration Pack should be good enough for a 15 mile run or a short-day hike over 5 to 10 miles. It’s difficult to measure for a cyclist, but in the extreme, a punishing 2 hour cycle ride on a hot day and the Camelbak Hydrobak Hydration Pack should suffice.

Is this the best hydration pack for running?
The idea of running with a hydration system tied to your back may seem odd to start with, but look at the benefits. You don’t have to plan for water breaks, your hands are free, you can take along your wallet, gel, keys or mp3 player.

The Camelbak Hydrobak 1.5l Hydration System can hold 1.5 liters of water, and after 2 minutes, you forget it’s even there!

Little tip:
To help stop the water sloshing around, make sure the air is completely out of the hydration pack before setting off.

Hydro packs are not only for sports, but are also great for kids who need replenishing on days out. The Camelbak Hydrobak Hydration Pack is so light they will hardly notice they’re wearing it. Perfect for 8 years old and up.

Pro’s:
The Camelbak HydroBak is extremely well made with a quality mouth valve that won’t let you down. It’s light and comfortable and with it’s external fill reservoir, it’s easy to fill. There is a minimum amount of gadgets, so it’s just you, the Hydrobak and water! It’s also reflective for added safety and has a small compartment for your most essential item.

Cons:
The pocket is really small, only one small item can be carried, so make your choice between keys, money or gel! Go for the Camelbak 70 oz if you need a little more space. As the Camelbak Hydrobak Hydration Pack sits close to your back, it may soak up a fair amount of sweat, so will need washing after particularly hard runs. Although the Hydroback is a snug fitting, it could do with a chest strap just to make it cling even more.

Overall, we give this Camelbak HydroBak a good 4.4 out of 5. It’s perfect as long as you realise it just a Hydropak that holds water…nothing else. It’s the quality of the Camelbak brand that stands out among other Hydropaks which makes it a little more expensive. They are probably the best Hydration pack manufactures out there.

Top Quality product that does what it says on the tin!
